Cattle Sale Receipt

ਕਦੋਂ ਲੋੜ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ

A record of the sale of an animal — a buffalo, cow, bullock, calf or other livestock — between a seller and a buyer: what was sold, its description and any identification tag, the price received, a health declaration, and, because Punjab prohibits cow slaughter, the buyer's declaration about a bovine animal. Village and mandi cattle sales are almost always done on trust and a handshake; this receipt is the paper trail that protects both sides if the animal later turns out to be diseased, not the seller's to sell, or if the buyer is asked to account for what became of a protected animal. Not for: the sale of a whole dairy herd or a farm as a going concern together with land, sheds and equipment, which needs a fuller business-transfer agreement; a gift of an animal, where no price passes; or the transport of cattle out of Punjab, which needs its own permits under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Transport of Animals) Rules, 1978 and is not covered by this receipt.
