LEGAL BASIS

Punjab: No separate statutory quit-claim category was identified; this instrument is treated by substance as a release under Article 55. Where it extinguishes an immovable right or claim, section 17(1)(b) requires registration, with section 23 four-month presentation. Punjab authority property remains subject to section 43(7). The stamping note sets out the Article 55 position, including the Punjab blood-relation remission, and the registration note gives the fee.

Chandigarh: The instrument is likewise treated by substance as a release under Article 55. Section 17(1)(b) requires registration where an immovable claim is extinguished. Sector property must be reflected in the Estate Office file. The stamping and registration notes give the Chandigarh lines.

The purpose of collecting personal data in this quit-claim release is to identify the family parties and disputed property claim and formally extinguish only the releasor actual stated right or claim.

The record will be held by __________ and may be shared with the parties, Sub-Registrar, court/estate administrator where relevant, and the relevant Estate/development/revenue authority.

If the matter does not proceed, the personal data will be retained for 90 days and then erased. If the matter proceeds, the record will be retained for the matter plus 12 months, except where a statute requires a longer named retention period.
