Revocation of a Will

Answer what you can. The draft beside these boxes is rewritten as you go, so you can see exactly what each answer does to the document.

What you type stays in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to keep a copy — and closing this tab loses it.

Your answers

Nothing answered yet. There are 36 questions on this form.

Still to answer

35 answers are still to come.

Nothing is amiss in what you have written. The document is simply not finished, and the draft marks each gap where an answer will go.

  1. The testator
  2. Family and domicile
  3. The estate
  4. The bequests
  5. Witnesses and execution
  6. The will being revoked

Step 1 of 6

The testator

For example: Harpreet Singh

What is the testator's residential address?Needed

A calendar date — the day, the month and the year. Dates in a document like this are read against one another, so a date typed here can change what another date is allowed to be.

For example: 05 December 1948

What personal-law context should the drafting file record?Needed
What is the testator's marital status?Needed
Read the whole draft

Clearing empties every box on this form, and there is no way back to what was in them.

The live draft

The draft, as it stands

This is the whole document, not a sample of it. It is rewritten every time you change an answer.

A long blank line — __________ — stands wherever an answer has not been given. It is left that visible on purpose, so an unfinished document cannot be mistaken for a finished one.

No answer has been given, so every place a detail belongs is standing blank. The shape of the document is worth reading even now.

LEGAL BASIS

Punjab: Sections 59 and 63 of the Indian Succession Act, 1925 govern testamentary capacity and execution of an unprivileged will; section 63 requires the testator's signature/mark and attestation by two or more witnesses. Section 18(e) of the Registration Act, 1908 makes registration of a will optional, and section 40 identifies who may present a will for registration. A Punjab Sub-Registrar receives a will presented during the testator's lifetime; the Revenue Department's published table, checked on 6 September 2026, puts a Will or a cancellation of a Will at a registration fee of Rs 4,000, facilitation charges of Rs 500 and the Rs 200 pasting fee that applies to every document; the table bears no date, so confirm the figure at the counter. Sections 62 and 70 govern the power and statutory method of revocation. Section 58 keeps the Act's testamentary provisions away from a Muslim's property: Muslim law governs a Muslim's will and limits a bequest to one-third of the estate without the heirs' consent, so a Muslim testator should not use this form.

Chandigarh: Sections 59 and 63 of the Indian Succession Act, 1925 apply in the same way. Section 18(e) of the Registration Act makes registration optional and section 40 governs presentation; the Sub-Registrar, UT Chandigarh receives a will presented for registration. The Administration's published table, checked on 6 September 2026, puts a Will or a cancellation of a Will at a registration fee of Rs 200 plus a Rs 20 pasting fee. Sections 62 and 70 govern the power and statutory method of revocation. The section 58 exclusion for a Muslim testator applies in Chandigarh too.

Reading costs nothing. Keeping a copy needs an account.

The opening of the draft is on this page as you answer it. Once every answer is in, the button below opens the whole draft, watermarked — still without an account. Printing it, or keeping a clean copy, is where an account is asked for. That is the whole arrangement.

A kept copy has to belong to somebody, and that is the reason for the account. There is nothing further to it.
