LEGAL BASIS

Punjab: Section 63(c) of the Indian Succession Act, 1925 states the attestation requirements for an unprivileged will. Section 281 requires a probate petition to be verified by at least one witness to the will when procurable. This declaration is retained for the estate/court file; if a court requires sworn evidence, the witness must use the court-directed affidavit/evidence procedure. No statutory fee or appeal route attaches to this standalone declaration.

Chandigarh: Sections 63(c) and 281 apply in the same way. The declaration may support a District Court testamentary proceeding or registration-related record but does not itself register or prove the will conclusively. No statutory fee or appeal route attaches to this standalone declaration.
