LEGAL BASIS AND WHAT THIS DOCUMENT IS NOT
The shajra is the graphical companion to the record of rights for agricultural land in Punjab, and for the retained revenue villages of Chandigarh, prepared at settlement and thereafter kept current through periodical revision under the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887 and the procedure in the Punjab Land Records Manual. A copy of it shows the numbers and boundaries as last recorded on paper. It is not a demarcation of the boundary on the ground — that is a separate nishandehi proceeding before the revenue authorities — and it is not a title document: it neither transfers nor confirms any interest in the land.
This application does not itself claim, assert or dispute any right in the land; it only asks the custodian of the map to issue a copy of what the record already shows.
