In Punjab a mortgage and its redemption change the rights recorded against land, so the entry is removed by a mutation reported under section 34 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887 and attested by the Circle Revenue Officer, not by a fard badar, with the lender's release or no-dues letter as the proof. When a charge is repaid, the lender should also confirm that it has been satisfied in the Central Registry records. In Chandigarh a sector property's record is the Estate Office file.
