Decorator and Tent Contract

Answer what you can. The draft beside these boxes is rewritten as you go, so you can see exactly what each answer does to the document.

What you type stays in this browser. Moving to a new step asks this site to draw it, but nothing is kept anywhere until you choose to keep a copy — and closing this tab loses it.

Your answers

Still to answer

6 answers are still to come.

Nothing is amiss in what you have written. The document is simply not finished, and the draft marks each gap where an answer will go.

  1. The decorator and the host
  2. What will be put up
  3. Setup and removal
  4. Charges and damage
  5. Cancellation and refund
  6. Disputes and signing

Step 1 of 6

The decorator and the host

For example: Singh Tent House and Decorators

Decorator's addressNeeded

For example: Balwinder Singh, Proprietor

For example: Harpreet Singh Gill

Host's addressNeeded

A number somebody can be reached on. Ten digits is the usual Indian form, and a country code in front of it is fine if you want it there.

For example: 9876543210

Clearing empties every box on this form, and there is no way back to what was in them.

The live draft

The draft, as it stands

This is the document as far as you have reached, not the whole of it yet — the rest appears as you answer more questions. It is rewritten every time you change an answer.

A long blank line — __________ — stands wherever an answer has not been given. It is left that visible on purpose, so an unfinished document cannot be mistaken for a finished one.

No answer has been given, so every place a detail belongs is standing blank. The shape of the document is worth reading even now.

DECORATOR AND TENT CONTRACT

BETWEEN

__________, of __________, acting through __________ (the "Decorator");

AND

__________, of __________, mobile __________ (the "Host").

  1. 1. THE WORK

1.4 Anything the Host later adds beyond the scope above is charged at a rate the parties agree in writing before the work is done.

  1. 2. SETUP, READY TIME AND REMOVAL

2.2 If the work is not ready by that time, the Host may ask for a fair reduction in the charge for the delay, and the parties will agree it in good faith. If the main stage, tent or seating is not usable when the function is due to begin, the Host may refuse the work that is not usable and recover what has been paid for it.

  1. 3. SAFETY

3.1 The Decorator is responsible for the strength and stability of every stage, tent, frame, hanging and lighting rig it puts up, and for using sound materials and competent workers. Electrical work will be done safely, with proper wiring and fittings, and the Decorator will not overload any supply.

3.2 The Decorator will follow the rules of the place where the work is put up, including any rule against nails, drilling, open flame or blocking exits, and will use fire-resistant material where it is required.

3.3 The Host will get any permission needed to put up a structure on land that is not the Host's own or that belongs to the public, such as a road, park or common area, and tell the Decorator what it covers.

  1. 4. CHARGES AND PAYMENT
  1. 5. LOST OR DAMAGED ITEMS

5.1 From the time hired items are delivered to the place until the Decorator takes them back, the Host is responsible for any that are lost, stolen or damaged beyond ordinary wear, unless the loss or damage is caused by the Decorator's workers or by a defect in the item itself.

5.2 For an item that is lost or damaged beyond repair, the Host pays the rate in the itemised list; where no rate is listed, the fair cost of repairing or replacing it. The Decorator will count and inspect the items with the Host when they are taken back, and will show the Host in writing what is claimed and why.

  1. 6. IF THE HOST CANCELS
  1. 7. IF THE DECORATOR CANNOT DO THE WORK
  1. 8. GENERAL

8.1 This Agreement is the whole understanding between the parties about the decoration and tent work for this function. A change is valid only if it is in writing and both parties sign it or both confirm it in a written message.

The rest stays out of view until every answer is in.

Reading costs nothing. Keeping a copy needs an account.

The opening of the draft is on this page as you answer it. Once every answer is in, the button below opens the whole draft, watermarked — still without an account. Printing it, or keeping a clean copy, is where an account is asked for. That is the whole arrangement.

A kept copy has to belong to somebody, and that is the reason for the account. There is nothing further to it.
