Punjab: No single Punjab statutory provision for a universal-purpose “heirship certificate” with one issuing office, fee, time limit and appeal route was confirmed from the sources used. The applicant must file with the authority legally prescribed for the stated purpose, such as the relevant revenue/departmental office. A disputed succession/title issue is not resolved merely by this administrative certificate.

Chandigarh: No single UT statutory provision for a universal-purpose heirship certificate with one issuing office, fee, time limit and appeal route was confirmed. For a Chandigarh sector/estate property, transmission is handled through the Estate Office file under the Capital of Punjab (Development and Regulation) Act, 1952 and Chandigarh Estate Rules, 2007 rather than a Punjab-style mutation process.
