Reply to a Cheque Bounce Notice

Answer what you can. The draft beside these boxes is rewritten as you go, so you can see exactly what each answer does to the document.

What you type stays in this browser. Moving to a new step asks this site to draw it, but nothing is kept anywhere until you choose to keep a copy — and closing this tab loses it.

Your answers

Nothing answered yet. There are 7 questions on this form.

Still to answer

4 answers are still to come.

Nothing is amiss in what you have written. The document is simply not finished, and the draft marks each gap where an answer will go.

  1. Sender and Recipient
  2. The cheque and the notice
  3. Your answer
  4. Serving this notice

Step 1 of 4

Sender and Recipient

For example: Ramesh Kumar

Sender's addressNeeded

For example: Advocate Navneet Gill, for Mr Harbans Lal

Address given in the noticeNeeded
More details — you may leave these

A number somebody can be reached on. Ten digits is the usual Indian form, and a country code in front of it is fine if you want it there.

For example: 98765 43210

An email address somebody actually reads. Notices under a document like this can be sent to it, so a working one matters more than a tidy one.

For example: ramesh.kumar@example.com

A second address for the RecipientYou may leave this

Clearing empties every box on this form, and there is no way back to what was in them.

The live draft

The draft, as it stands

This is the document as far as you have reached, not the whole of it yet — the rest appears as you answer more questions. It is rewritten every time you change an answer.

A long blank line — __________ — stands wherever an answer has not been given. It is left that visible on purpose, so an unfinished document cannot be mistaken for a finished one.

No answer has been given, so every place a detail belongs is standing blank. The shape of the document is worth reading even now.

REPLY TO A CHEQUE BOUNCE NOTICE

The drawer's reply to a demand notice sent after a cheque was returned unpaid.

TO:
__________
__________

FROM:
__________
__________

Dear Sir / Madam,

1. THE NOTICE RECEIVED

2. THE SENDER'S POSITION

3. REPLY TO THE DEMAND

3.1 The Sender does not admit that any amount is due to the Recipient, and denies that the demand in the Notice is payable. Everything in the Notice that is not expressly admitted in this reply is denied.

3.2 The Sender reserves the right to rely on every defence available in law, including that the cheque was not given in discharge of a legally enforceable debt or liability.

4. WHAT THE SENDER ASKS

4.1 The Sender asks the Recipient to withdraw the demand in the Notice and not to proceed against the Sender on it.

4.2 The Sender asks the Recipient to keep safe, and to produce if a complaint is filed, the original cheque, the bank's return memo, and every document the Recipient relies on to show the debt or liability claimed.

4.3 If the Recipient files a complaint, the Sender will defend it and will ask for such costs and compensation as the law allows.

4.4 Nothing in this reply is an admission, and the Sender's rights and defences are fully reserved.

5. SERVICE OF THIS NOTICE

6. JURISDICTION AND REPLY

Yours faithfully,

Reading costs nothing. Keeping a copy needs an account.

The opening of the draft is on this page as you answer it. Once every answer is in, the button below opens the whole draft, watermarked — still without an account. Printing it, or keeping a clean copy, is where an account is asked for. That is the whole arrangement.

A kept copy has to belong to somebody, and that is the reason for the account. There is nothing further to it.
