VEHICLE RENTAL OR MONTHLY LEASE AGREEMENT
__________, of __________ (the "Owner"); and
__________, of __________ (the "Hirer").
- 1. THE VEHICLE AND ITS USE
1.3 The Owner states that he or she is the registered owner, that the RC, the insurance and the pollution certificate are valid on the start date, and that no one else has a claim on the Vehicle that would stop the Hirer using it, except any financer’s hypothecation shown on the RC, of which the Owner has told the Hirer.

3.4 Challans, fines and tolls incurred while the Vehicle is with the Hirer belong to the Hirer, who shall pay them promptly. If the Owner has to pay one, the Hirer shall repay it on demand.
- 4. INSURANCE AND ACCIDENTS
4.1 The Owner shall keep the Vehicle’s motor insurance in force throughout the hire. The Hirer shall not do anything that would make the policy void.
4.2 After any accident, theft or damage, the Hirer shall at once inform the Owner and, where the law requires, the police and the insurer, and shall not admit liability or settle a claim without the Owner’s consent.
4.3 If damage is not covered by the insurer, or the insurer deducts an excess, the Hirer shall bear that part where the damage came from the Hirer’s or the driver’s fault. Damage from a defect already in the Vehicle is the Owner’s.
- 5. ENDING THE HIRE AND RETURN
5.1 Either side may end the hire early by giving thirty days’ written notice. The Owner may end it at once if rent is unpaid for more than thirty days or the Vehicle is used in breach of clause 1.2.
5.2 On the end of the hire the Hirer shall return the Vehicle, with its keys, RC copy and papers, in the same condition as received apart from fair wear and tear. Both sides shall note the odometer reading and any existing marks on a return slip signed by both.
5.3 The Hirer does not become the owner of the Vehicle by this Agreement and shall not sell, pledge or lend it.
5.4 Any dispute shall first be talked through by the two sides. This Agreement is made in two copies, and each side keeps one.
