Airline Refund or Compensation Complaint

Answer what you can. The draft beside these boxes is rewritten as you go, so you can see exactly what each answer does to the document.

What you type stays in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to keep a copy — and closing this tab loses it.

Nothing is amiss in what you have written. The document is simply not finished, and the draft marks each gap where an answer will go.

A calendar date — the day, the month and the year. Dates in a document like this are read against one another, so a date typed here can change what another date is allowed to be.

For example: 16 November 2026

For example: Ludhiana

How will you send this?Needed

For example: The Customer Relations Manager, Example Airways Ltd

At what address is it sent?Needed

An email address somebody actually reads. Notices under a document like this can be sent to it, so a working one matters more than a tidy one.

For example: customer.relations@exampleairways.example.com

For example: Gurpreet Singh Dhillon

What is your address?Needed

An email address somebody actually reads. Notices under a document like this can be sent to it, so a working one matters more than a tidy one.

For example: gurpreet.dhillon@example.com

A number somebody can be reached on. Ten digits is the usual Indian form, and a country code in front of it is fine if you want it there.

For example: +91 98150 47731

For example: Refund and compensation for cancelled flight EA 417 of 12 November 2026, booking ref XK7P2Q

For example: booking reference XK7P2Q

For example: flight EA 417 from Chandigarh to Mumbai on 12 November 2026

An amount in rupees. Commas and a ₹ sign are both fine — write it the way you would write it anywhere else, and the document is given the tidy form of it.

For example: 9850

What went wrong?Needed

What you were told, when and how; what was offered; how long you waited.

A long answer. Several lines are fine, and a break you make between paragraphs is the break the document keeps.

For example: The airline sent me an SMS at 2:10 am on 12 November 2026 saying the 7:25 am flight was cancelled. I was offered a seat on a flight two days later, which I could not take.

Only costs you can show with receipts, such as meals, hotel or a replacement ticket; leave blank if none.

A long answer. Several lines are fine, and a break you make between paragraphs is the break the document keeps.

For example: A taxi to the airport and back (1,800 rupees) and one night's hotel (3,200 rupees), with receipts.

An amount in rupees. Commas and a ₹ sign are both fine — write it the way you would write it anywhere else, and the document is given the tidy form of it.

For example: 14850

Each contact: the date, how, the reference number, and what you were told; write "None so far." if none.

A long answer. Several lines are fine, and a break you make between paragraphs is the break the document keeps.

For example: I wrote through the airline's website form on 14 November 2026, reference EA-CR-88231, and was told a refund would follow in 21 days. Nothing has been paid.

Number each paper. Send copies and keep the originals.

A long answer. Several lines are fine, and a break you make between paragraphs is the break the document keeps.

For example: 1. E-ticket and booking confirmation. 2. The airline's cancellation message. 3. Receipts for the taxi and hotel. 4. My earlier correspondence with the airline.

For example: Kuldip Singh Sandhu

An email address somebody actually reads. Notices under a document like this can be sent to it, so a working one matters more than a tidy one.

For example: kuldip.sandhu@example.com

The live draft

The draft, as it stands

This is the whole document, not a sample of it. It is rewritten every time you change an answer.

A long blank line — __________ — stands wherever an answer has not been given. It is left that visible on purpose, so an unfinished document cannot be mistaken for a finished one.

No answer has been given, so every place a detail belongs is standing blank. The shape of the document is worth reading even now.

ENCLOSURES

__________

LEGAL BASIS

Punjab and Chandigarh: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation's Civil Aviation Requirements on facilities to passengers when a flight is cancelled, delayed or a passenger is denied boarding, and on the refund of airline tickets, set what an airline owes its passengers in those cases, and they apply to the flight and not to the passenger's home state. An airline's service to a passenger is a service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, so a complaint of deficiency can be taken to the District Commission within two years of the cause of action, and a passenger may also complain on the AirSewa portal. For an international journey, the rules of the international convention or the airline's conditions of carriage may apply as well. No fee is payable on this letter.

PERSONAL DATA NOTICE

This notice is given under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

The purpose of collecting the personal data in this document is to identify the passenger, record the booking, what happened to the flight or the refund, and the claim made, and let the airline investigate and reply.

The record will be held by __________ and may be shared with the airline and its customer relations or appellate officers, the booking agent or payment provider, the aviation regulator and its complaint portal, the sender's advocate, and any Commission or court that hears the matter.

If the matter does not proceed, the personal data will be retained for 90 days and then erased. If the matter proceeds, the record will be retained for the transaction or authority matter plus 12 months, except where a statute requires a longer named retention period.

A person named in this document may request correction or erasure where the purpose has ended, withdraw consent for future consent-based processing, or raise a grievance by writing to __________. The record-holder should acknowledge and reply within 30 days.

Data minimisation: this document does not collect a full Aadhaar number, an Aadhaar-card copy, a password or bank credentials.

Reading costs nothing. Keeping a copy needs an account.

The opening of the draft is on this page as you answer it. Once every answer is in, the button below opens the whole draft, watermarked — still without an account. Printing it, or keeping a clean copy, is where an account is asked for. That is the whole arrangement.

A kept copy has to belong to somebody, and that is the reason for the account. There is nothing further to it.
