Subject: Refund of fees for the JEE one-year programme, student Aman Kumar
Sir or Madam,
- 1. The fee paid. For the student Aman Kumar, I paid ₹1,45,000 (Rupees One Lakh Forty Five Thousand only) to you for the one-year JEE programme, batch B2, starting 1 July 2026, against receipts 2214 of 24 June 2026 and 2877 of 20 August 2026.
- 2. Who writes. I am the person who paid the fee and I make this request myself.
- 3. Why I ask for a refund. The student withdrew before the course or session began. The date is 1 April 2026. My son attended 31 days of classes. The advertised faculty left in August, and two of the five promised subjects had no regular teacher. I gave written notice of withdrawal on 15 September 2026.
- 4. What your terms say. Your refund policy or admission form says: clause 7 of the admission form, which says the unused part of the fee is refunded on leaving within the first term. Fee held back from a student who has left, or for a course not delivered as promised, should be limited to what the terms and the law allow.
- 5. What I have already asked. I met the director on 18 September 2026 and wrote on 25 September 2026. I was told the fee was non-refundable.
- 6. What I require. Within fifteen days of receiving this letter, refund ₹1,10,000 (Rupees One Lakh Ten Thousand only) to the account I will name on request, send me a written statement showing how any amount kept has been worked out, and tell me the name of the officer handling this.
- 7. If you do not. If the refund is not made, I will take the matter up with the education authority, where it applies, and may file a consumer complaint before the District Consumer Commission, and I will ask for interest and costs. This letter does not waive any of my rights.
ENCLOSURES
- 1. Fee receipts. 2. Admission form and refund policy. 3. Prospectus or advertisement. 4. My written notice of withdrawal dated 15 September 2026.
LEGAL BASIS
Punjab and Chandigarh: A fee taken for a course not delivered as promised, or kept after a student has validly withdrawn, may be recovered, and the terms of the admission form and prospectus are the starting point. The Ministry of Education's guidelines for the regulation of coaching centres, and any rules of the Punjab or Chandigarh administration on fees, may limit what a centre may keep. A coaching centre's service may be a service under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, so a complaint of deficiency can be taken to the District Commission within two years of the cause of action; whether a school is such a provider has been treated differently by the courts. No fee is payable on this letter.
