Two instruments, each separately chargeable, so Part A and Part B are engrossed as separate stamped papers rather than one — Section 5 of the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 taxes an instrument covering distinct matters at the aggregate of the duties applicable to each, and keeping them apart avoids any dispute over which single rate applies. Part A, the affidavit, is chargeable under Article 4, Schedule I-A (Punjab) — a nominal fixed duty authorities commonly print as Rs 25, though no official table carries a specific affidavit entry — confirm at the counter; Chandigarh applies its own Schedule I figure. Part B, the indemnity bond, is chargeable under Article 34 of the applicable Schedule — a fixed duty higher than the affidavit's, revised from time to time by notification; confirm the current figure at the stamp counter or the e-stamp portal before buying the stamp paper. Buy both in the holder's own name, and check whether the receiving institution prescribes its own stamp value for either part, which some Boards and Universities do.

Not registrable — neither Part A nor Part B passes any interest in immovable property, so Section 17 of the Registration Act, 1908 does not reach either. Some institutions describe the indemnity bond they want as 'registered', meaning only notarised; confirm which is meant before assuming a Sub-Registrar is involved.

नोटरी

Both parts are sworn or executed before a Notary Public, an Oath Commissioner, or an Executive Magistrate, with the holder appearing in person with photo identification. Execute both on the same day before the same officer, even though they are separate stamped instruments, so the dates match.

गवाह

Part A, the affidavit, needs none by law. Part B, the indemnity bond, has no statutory requirement either, but two attesting witnesses — adults, not the holder's dependants — is near-universal institutional practice; provide them unless the receiving institution's own format says otherwise.
