Form 33: change of address in the vehicle RC
If you have moved house, Form 33 is how you ask the RTO to record your new address in the vehicle's registration certificate (RC) and its own records. If the vehicle is under a loan, the financier also gives its consent on the form. Submit it at the Registering Authority (the RTO), often online through Parivahan's Vahan service. In Punjab and Chandigarh much of this is done online, and the printed form is uploaded or taken along.
Issued by: Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (Parivahan), under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989
The form itself is in English, exactly as the issuing office prints it.
How to fill it in
- Make three copies if the vehicle is under a loan. At "The Registering Authority", write the RTO that registered the vehicle.
- "I/We ... son/wife/daughter of": your full name and your parent's or spouse's name, then your full address as now recorded on the RC.
- "motor vehicle no": write the registration number. "with effect from": the date you stopped living at the old address.
- "The present address is given below": write your new full address and enclose proof of it, as the form says. Then write your mobile number.
- Strike out one of the two lines: either the vehicle is NOT under a hire-purchase, lease or hypothecation agreement, or it is, and then write the financier's name and full address.
- The form says the certificate of registration is enclosed, so attach the original RC. Write the date and sign (or put your thumb impression) as the registered owner.
- "Consent of the financier" is for the financier to fill, if there is a loan. Leave "Office Endorsement" and the specimen signature boxes empty.
