Form 27: application for a new registration mark (vehicle brought from another state)
When a vehicle registered in another State has been kept in this State, the owner applies in Form 27 to the Registering Authority (the RTO) for a new registration mark. The form is made in triplicate if the vehicle is held under a hire-purchase, lease or hypothecation agreement. It asks you to enclose the certificate of registration and the certificate of fitness, and a No Objection Certificate from the old registering authority.
Issued by: Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (Parivahan), under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989
The form itself is in English, exactly as the issuing office prints it.
How to fill it in
- At "The Registering Authority", write the RTO of the State where the vehicle is now kept. If a loan is running, make three copies.
- Write your own name and your father's or husband's name, then the vehicle number, chassis number, engine or motor number, type of vehicle, and the State where it was registered, copied from the registration certificate.
- Write the day, month and year since when you have kept the vehicle in this State, and the date up to which the registration is valid. The form declares that the registration has not been suspended or cancelled.
- Enclose the certificate of registration and the certificate of fitness, and the "No objection certificate" from the old registering authority. If the NOC is not enclosed, the form says a declaration under the first proviso to section 47(1) must be filed with it.
- Strike out whichever line does not apply: the vehicle is not subject to a hire-purchase, lease or hypothecation agreement, or it is, with the financier's name written in and the NOC granted or refused. If the financier refused the NOC, a declaration under section 51(8) must be filed.
- Write your mobile number, the date, and sign or put your thumb impression. If there is a loan, the financier fills the consent box (No objection or Objection) and signs. Leave the "Office Endorsement" for the RTO, which enters the new registration mark there.
