Subject: Request for the TDS certificate (Form 16A) for the financial year 2025-26, for the rent of the premises at Shop No. 3, Ground Floor, SCO 11, Sector 8-C, Chandigarh, Chandigarh
Dear Sir or Madam,
- 1. The Tenant occupies the premises known as Shop No. 3, Ground Floor, SCO 11, Sector 8-C, Chandigarh, situated at Chandigarh, in the State of Punjab (the "Premises"), under a Lease Deed dated 2 January 2026 between the Landlord and the Tenant for a term of 9 years commencing 1 February 2026 (the "Lease"), and pays the Landlord rent for it.
- 2. Where tax is deducted at source from rent, the income-tax law requires the person who deducted it to deposit it with the government, to file the statement for each quarter, and to give the person from whose rent it was deducted a TDS certificate in Form 16A. The Landlord needs that certificate, and the tax appearing against its PAN, to claim credit for the tax in its own return.
- 3. The Landlord asks the Tenant to give it the TDS certificate in Form 16A for the rent paid for the Premises for all four quarters of that financial year, of the financial year 2025-26.
- 4. The quarters are: July to September 2025 and October to December 2025.
- 5. The Landlord's records show that rent of ₹14,40,000 (Rupees Fourteen Lakh Forty Thousand only) was paid for that period.
- 6. The Tenant has told the Landlord that it deducted tax of ₹1,44,000 (Rupees One Lakh Forty Four Thousand only) for that period. Please make sure the certificate shows that figure, or tell us why it differs.
- 7. The Landlord's PAN is ABCDE1234F. Please check that this is the PAN on the Tenant's records and in the statements filed, because the tax will not appear in the Landlord's tax statement if a wrong PAN was used.
- 8. Please send the certificate within 15 days of receiving this letter. If tax was deducted but not yet deposited, or the statement has not yet been filed, please deposit it and file the statement and tell the Landlord when this is done.
- 9. Please send the certificate to: accounts@example.com.
- 10. If the Tenant did not deduct tax on the rent for any period, because it believes it was not required to, please say so in writing within the same time and give the reason, so that the Landlord can account for the rent correctly.
- 11. This letter is a request. It does not change the Lease, and the Landlord reserves all its rights under the Lease and in law.
