Before demolishing a building, get the authority's permission — Chandigarh Building Rules (Urban), 2017 expressly cover demolition; Punjab applies its own procedure. Address occupants, utility disconnection, party walls, road safety, hazardous materials and debris. This does not authorise a replacement building; redevelopment needs its own sanction.
