Sir or Madam,
- 1. The deposit. Harbans Singh Sandhu placed the following with your branch: Receipt no. 40718 for 300000 rupees and receipt no. 40719 for 150000 rupees. The deposit is a cumulative fixed deposit, with interest added to the deposit, was opened on 2 April 2026 for ₹4,50,000 (Rupees Four Lakh Fifty Thousand only), and is due to mature on 3 April 2026. The deposit is held in the sole name of the person who died.
- 2. The death. Harbans Singh Sandhu died on 1 April 2026 at Dayanand Medical College Hospital, Ludhiana. The death certificate is No. D-2026-014872 issued on 12 September 2026 by the Municipal Corporation, Ludhiana, and a copy is enclosed. Please record the death against the deposit from that date.
- 3. My right to claim. I am the daughter of the person who died. I am the nominee recorded for this deposit, and I claim it as nominee. The nominee recorded for the deposit, as far as I know, is Mrs Surinder Kaur Sandhu, wife.
- 4. The other heirs. The legal heirs of Harbans Singh Sandhu are: Mrs Surinder Kaur Sandhu (wife), Gurpreet Kaur Sandhu (daughter) and Jaspreet Singh Sandhu (son). The other heirs know of this claim and have agreed to it, and their signed letters of no objection are enclosed.
- 5. The deposit receipt. I hold the original receipt and will hand it over when the claim is paid. I understand that a loan was taken against this deposit and I ask you to adjust it first.
- 6. How the deposit is to be dealt with. Close the deposit now and pay the amount due on the date of death with interest as the rules allow.
- 7. What I ask you to do.
(a) Mark the deposit as that of a deceased depositor, and do not renew it, roll it over or pay interest to any other person from today.
(b) Tell me in writing the amount payable on the date of death and the amount payable today, with the interest worked out at each date and the rate on which you have worked it.
(c) Tell me whether any charge or reduction in interest applies because the deposit is closed before it matures on account of the death, and the rule on which you rely.
(d) Give me the list of forms and papers you need, and say whether you will settle on the papers I name or ask for a court certificate.
