You (or your spouse) live outside India and need a sworn affidavit confirming the facts of your marriage — date, place, ceremony, and that neither of you had a subsisting earlier marriage — to support registration of the marriage under the Punjab Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act, 2012 or the Chandigarh Administration's marriage registration process, or to support a spouse-visa or immigration application abroad. Confirm your specific Registrar's or consulate's own affidavit format before relying on this one as sufficient on its own — some registrars and some consulates prescribe their own proforma.

1. That I was married to Gurpreet Singh Bains, S/o Sh. Baldev Singh, resident of 55 Maple Avenue, Surrey, BC V3T 1X4, Canada ("my Spouse"), on 1 April 2026 at Gurdwara Sahib, Jalandhar.

2. That the marriage was solemnised by Anand Karaj (Sikh rites). X

3. That Neither of us has been married before My spouse was previously married; that marriage ended by a decree of divorce dated 10 January 2023 passed by the Family Court, Jalandhar

4. That at the time of our marriage, both my Spouse and I were of marriageable age and competent to marry under the law applicable to us, and that our marriage was solemnised with the free consent of both of us.

5. That this affidavit is sworn for the purpose of registration of this marriage under the Punjab Compulsory Registration of Marriages Act, 2012, or the corresponding Chandigarh process, and may be relied upon by the concerned Registrar or authority for that purpose.

6. That the contents of this affidavit are true and correct to my knowledge and belief, that no part of it is false and that nothing material has been concealed therefrom.
