POWER OF ATTORNEY FOR ELDERLY PARENT'S AFFAIRS
I, Amarjit Kaur Sandhu, son/daughter/wife of Late Sh. Gurdial Singh Sandhu, residing at House No. 811, Sector 8, Chandigarh 160009 (the "Principal"), do hereby appoint, constitute and nominate:
Jaspreet Singh Sandhu, son/daughter/wife of Sh. Harbans Singh Sandhu, of House No. 22, Phase 3B1, Mohali 160059, who is my son (the "Attorney"),
to be my true and lawful attorney, in my name and on my behalf, for my bank, pension and medical care paperwork described below, upon the terms of this Power.
- 1. WHY I AM GIVING THIS
1.1 I find it hard to go to banks, offices and hospitals myself, and I give this Power freely, understanding what it allows, so that the Attorney can deal with the matters below for me.
- 2. MY BANK ACCOUNTS AND PENSION
2.1 The Attorney may operate the following accounts and deposits of mine: Savings Account No. 0123456789012, State Bank of India, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The Attorney may deposit, withdraw and transfer money, sign cheques, get statements and passbooks, and renew or close a deposit, always for my benefit.
2.2 The Attorney shall not withdraw or transfer more than ₹50,000 (Rupees Fifty Thousand only) in any single transaction without my written approval.
2.3 The Attorney may deal with my pension: X. The Attorney may submit the papers the paying office requires and receive the pension into my own bank account. If the paying office requires my own life certificate or my presence, I will provide it.
- 3. MEDICAL CARE PAPERWORK
3.1 The Attorney may handle hospital admission formalities, bills, insurance and reimbursement claims, and collect reports and medicines, but take no decision about my treatment. This applies to: X.
3.2 This Power does not give the Attorney any right to consent to or refuse treatment for me. Those decisions stay with me and my doctors.
- 4. SAFEGUARDS
4.1 My money shall be kept apart from the Attorney's own money and used only for my needs and expenses. The Attorney shall not give any gift out of it, and shall not transfer it to himself or herself or to anyone else, except to pay my bills and my care.
4.2 The Attorney shall not sell, mortgage, lease or gift any property of mine, make or change a will or nomination for me, or take any loan in my name.
4.3 The Attorney shall keep a written account of every sum received and spent, with receipts, and shall show it to me whenever I ask and send a copy each year to my daughter Navjot Kaur.
- 5. THE OTHER PLACES' OWN REQUIREMENTS
5.1 A bank, pension office, insurer or hospital may require its own format, the Attorney's own identity checks, or my presence for some steps. I will comply, without that affecting this Power for any other purpose.
- 6. REVOCABLE, AND IT ENDS IF I CAN NO LONGER UNDERSTAND
6.1 This is an ordinary power of attorney. I may revoke it at any time by written notice to the Attorney and to any bank or office that has been told of it, under s.203 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872. It ends on my death, and also if I become of unsound mind, under s.201 of that Act, whatever clause 7 says about its stated duration. It is not a power coupled with an interest.
