When you need it

You are paying an immigration consultant or travel agent to prepare and file a visa or immigration application, and you want what you are paying for, when you pay it, what comes back if the application is not filed or is refused, and who holds your original papers all written down before any money changes hands. It also records the consultant's licence, which Punjab's law requires of those who offer such services.

Not for: an agreement with a business consultant for ordinary professional services (use the Service / Consultancy Agreement), an advocate's engagement to appeal a refusal, or an agent who promises a job, a visa that is certain or a way round the rules, whom you should not pay at all.

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

Chargeable as an agreement under the residuary entry of Schedule I-A to the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 as applied in Punjab, and the corresponding entry in Chandigarh; the figure is not stated here because it could not be confirmed. Confirm with the Sub-Registrar or the department's published table before executing, and execute on stamp paper of at least that value; an unstamped agreement can be impounded if a dispute reaches a court.

Registration

Not registrable — section 17 of the Registration Act, 1908 does not reach a services agreement of this kind.

Notarisation

Not required. A notary adds nothing to enforceability, though some Clients have it attested for comfort.

Witnesses

Not required by law; two witnesses to the signatures are good practice and are asked for in the form.

SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH AN IMMIGRATION CONSULTANT

This Agreement is made at Chandigarh on 1 April 2026 BETWEEN Global Path Immigration Services, of SCO 100, Phase 7, Mohali ("the Consultant"), AND Harbans Singh, of House No. 88, Sector 40-B, Chandigarh ("the Client").

1. THE WORK

1.1 The Client engages the Consultant to help Navdeep Singh ("the Applicant") with an application to Canada, as follows: Advise on the correct visa category; prepare and check the application and the supporting documents; file the application online; track it and answer the office's queries; and advise on the next step after a decision

1.2 The Consultant will do the work with reasonable skill and care, and will tell the Client about progress and any query from the authority within a reasonable time.

2. THE CONSULTANT'S LICENCE

2.1 The Consultant states that it holds the following licence or registration for the services in this Agreement, and will show the original to the Client on request: Licence No. 123/2025, valid to 31 March 2028

2.2 The Consultant will not give advice or file anything for which the law of India or of Canada requires an authorisation that the Consultant does not hold.

3. FEES

3.1 The total fee payable to the Consultant is ₹25,000 (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand only), payable as follows: One-third on signing, one-third when the application is ready for filing, and one-third when it is filed

3.2 Government and third-party fees are paid by the Client directly to the authority or provider, not through the Consultant.

3.3 The Consultant will give the Client a written receipt for every payment, and no payment is due or counted unless receipted.

4. REFUNDS

4.1 If the application is never filed, all fees paid to the Consultant are refunded in full.

4.2 If the application is filed and the authority refuses it, no part of the fee is refundable merely because of the refusal, but the Consultant will study the refusal and advise on the next step without further fee. The part of the fee refundable is: Half of the total fee.

4.3 Any refund due is paid within 15 days of the Client's written request.

5. NO GUARANTEE

5.1 The decision on any visa or immigration application belongs to the authority, not to the Consultant. The Consultant has not promised and does not guarantee that a visa will be granted, or any job, admission or outcome.

6. THE CLIENT'S DUTIES

6.1 The Client will give true and complete information and genuine documents, including any earlier refusal, and will not ask the Consultant to file anything false.

6.2 The Client consents to the Consultant sharing the Applicant's information with the authority and with others only so far as the application needs.

7. THE CONSULTANT'S DUTIES
