APPLICATION FOR REFUND OF AN UNUSED STAMP
To,
The Collector of the district where the stamp was bought
Place: Chandigarh. Date: 1 April 2026.
Subject: Application for refund of an unused stamp of ₹6,90,000 (Rupees Six Lakh Ninety Thousand only).
Respected Sir or Madam,
- 1. I, Harpreet Singh, of House 12, Sector 35-A, Chandigarh, bought the following stamp, which stands in the name of Harpreet Singh: stamp paper bought from a licensed vendor, value ₹6,90,000 (Rupees Six Lakh Ninety Thousand only), serial or certificate number IN-PB12345678901234, bought on 2 April 2026 from Licensed vendor Sh. Ramesh Kumar, Sector 17, Chandigarh.
- 2. The stamp cannot be used because: the document it was bought for was never signed, because the deal was called off. The seller backed out on 12 October 2026, before any signature, so the agreement was never signed.
- 3. Present condition: Nothing has been written or signed on it, and it has not been used for any document.
- 4. I request that the stamp be refunded or allowed to me, as the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 and the rules made under it permit, in the way the office directs. I will hand back the original stamp paper, or surrender the e-stamp certificate, as the office requires.
- 5. I applied as soon as I learned that the stamp could not be used. If a time limit applies to this application, please tell me in writing how the period is counted and what else is needed.
I declare that the facts stated above are true to my knowledge.
Yours faithfully,
Applicant: Harpreet Singh
Enclosures: Original stamp paper (or print of the e-stamp certificate), my identity proof, the vendor's receipt
