When you need it

You are hiring a photographer and videographer in Punjab or Chandigarh for a wedding and its functions, or you are the studio and want the booking in writing. This contract fixes which functions are covered and for how many hours, how many people come, what you will actually receive (edited photographs, albums, films), the dates by which each is delivered, who owns the pictures and what the studio may do with them, and what happens if the studio cannot come or the files are lost.

Most disputes with photographers are about late delivery, a smaller album than promised, and unedited files nobody agreed to hand over. This contract makes each of those a line you fill in. Not for a venue or caterer — see the other documents in this group. Not for a long-term arrangement with a studio for a business's regular work.

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

An agreement of this kind falls under the general entry for agreements not otherwise provided for in the stamp law, and the figure for Punjab and for Chandigarh is not confirmed here. Ask a stamp vendor or the Sub-Registrar office for the current figure before you sign. Many such bookings are made on plain paper; an unstamped paper can be questioned in court until the duty and any penalty are paid.

Registration

Not required. This agreement gives no right in land or buildings that outlasts the booking, so it does not need to be registered.

Notarisation

Not required. A notary adds nothing to the strength of this agreement.

Witnesses

Not required by law, but two witnesses who see both parties sign are good practice, and this form asks for them.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER AND VIDEOGRAPHER CONTRACT

This Contract is made at Chandigarh on 2 April 2026.

BETWEEN

Lens & Light Studio, of Sector 17, Chandigarh, acting through Gurdeep Singh, Proprietor (the "Studio");

AND

Harpreet Singh Gill, of House 118, Sector 21, Chandigarh, mobile 9876543210 (the "Client").

  1. 1. COVERAGE

1.1 The Studio will photograph and film the wedding of Aman and Simran and the following functions: Mehndi on 10 February 2027, 5 to 9 pm, at the Gill house; Sangeet on 11 February, 7 pm to midnight; Wedding and reception on 12 February, 10 am to 11 pm, at Royal Orchid Banquet, Sector 35, Chandigarh

1.2 The Studio will send 2 photographers and 2 videographers to each function, with the equipment they need and spare equipment in case something fails. The Studio will not replace them with less experienced people without the Client's agreement.

1.3 No drone is used.

1.4 The Client will tell the Studio which people and moments matter most, will make sure the Studio team can enter each place, and is responsible for any permission the venue asks for photography and filming.

  1. 2. WHAT THE CLIENT RECEIVES AND WHEN

2.1 Photographs and albums: At least 600 edited photographs in high resolution, and two printed albums of 40 sheets each

2.2 Films: A highlight film of 5 to 8 minutes and a full-length film of each function

2.3 The Studio will deliver as follows, counting days from the date of the last function: a preview set within 10 days; all edited photographs within 45 days; and the films within 60 days. Printed albums will be delivered within 30 days after the Client approves the album design.

2.4 If the Studio is late, the parties will agree a fair reduction in the fee for the delay. If the delay is serious, the Client may ask for the return of the money paid for work not yet delivered, after giving the Studio a written reminder and a reasonable further time.

2.5 The Studio keeps the unedited files and does not hand them to the Client.

2.6 The Studio will keep a backup of all the files for 12 months after the last delivery. If files are lost through the Studio's fault, the Studio is responsible only for refunding the fee paid for the part that is lost, and for re-doing any work it still has the files for.

  1. 3. OWNERSHIP AND USE

3.1 The Client may use the delivered photographs and films for the Client's family and personal use, share them with relatives and friends, and print them, without paying anything more. The Client may not sell them or license them to others for money without the Studio's written permission. As between the parties, the Studio keeps the copyright in the pictures it takes.

3.2 The Studio may show a few selected pictures and clips in its portfolio, website and social media, but not the Client's private functions in full and not without hiding any picture the Client asks it not to use.
