When you need it

You have been allotted a place in a school, college or university hostel in Punjab or Chandigarh, and the institution asks the student and a parent or guardian for a sworn undertaking to follow the hostel rules and to stay free of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. This is that combined affidavit, in two parts: the student's declaration and the parent's or guardian's.

Not for the hostel's rent, fee and exit terms (use the Hostel Admission and Accommodation Agreement). Not for the ragging undertaking that most institutions ask separately (use the Anti-Ragging Affidavit). The hostel's own rules, any drug testing and the penalty for breach are set by the institution, not by this affidavit.

HOSTEL UNDERTAKING AND ANTI-DRUG AFFIDAVIT

(Student and Parent/Guardian)

PART A — STUDENT'S DECLARATION

I, Karan Mehra, S/o Sh. Vinod Mehra, resident of House No. 9, Model Town, Patiala, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:

1. That I have been admitted to B.Tech (Computer Science) at Punjabi University, Patiala for the session 2026-27, and have been allotted accommodation in the hostel known as Boys Hostel No. 3.

2. That I have read the hostel rules given to me by the institution, and I undertake to abide by them and by every lawful direction of the hostel authorities.

3. That I shall not possess, consume, sell, supply or keep any narcotic drug or psychotropic substance, as defined in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, in the hostel or on the campus, and I shall not allow anyone else to do so in my room.

4. That I shall not take part in, encourage or shelter any person involved in the use or supply of such substances, and I shall report any such activity that I come to know of to the hostel authorities.

5. That I understand that if I am found in breach of this undertaking, the institution may take action under its rules, including cancelling my hostel accommodation, without prejudice to any action under law.

PART B — PARENT'S / GUARDIAN'S DECLARATION

I, Vinod Mehra, the father of the student named above, resident of House No. 9, Model Town, Patiala, do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as under:

6. That I have read the hostel rules and this undertaking, I have explained to the student what a breach of it can lead to, and I consent to the student staying in the hostel on these terms.

7. That I can be reached on 98XXXXXXXX, and I shall respond when the hostel authorities contact me about the student.

8. That I shall be responsible, as the institution's rules provide, for the hostel dues and for any loss that the student causes to the hostel.

COMMON DECLARATION

9. That the contents of this affidavit are true and correct to our knowledge and belief, that no part of it is false, and that nothing material has been concealed from it.
