When you need it

For an applicant from a village near the international border who is seeking a Border Area Certificate from the Tehsildar/SDM in Punjab — the certificate behind the Border Area Meritorious Candidates (BAMC) quota in admission to Punjab's medical, dental, engineering and certain other professional colleges, and behind Border Area Development Programme benefits. Available only within Punjab's notified border belt — ordinarily a village within the notified distance of the international border in the districts of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur and Fazilka, as the Punjab Government's own border-belt notification draws the line village by village. Chandigarh has no international border and no equivalent certificate, so this affidavit is written for Punjab only.

Registration

Not a registrable instrument. Annexed to the Border Area Certificate application filed with the Tehsildar/SDM through the Suwidha Kendra or edistrict.punjabgovt.gov.in, which verifies residence against the Patwari's report, the border-belt notification and the electoral roll for the village named below before issuing the certificate. There is no Sub-Registrar step.

Notarisation

Sworn before a Notary Public or an Executive Magistrate/Oath Commissioner. Where sworn on the spot at the Suwidha Kendra counter, the attesting officer there may accept their own attestation in place of a separate notary — confirm with that counter before arranging notarisation elsewhere.

Witnesses

None required by law for the affidavit itself. Some Patwaris separately ask for an identifying signature from the Sarpanch or a Panch of the village named below as part of their own verification report — that is a departmental verification step, not a witness to this affidavit.

That I ordinarily reside at Village Dhanoe Khurd, Tehsil Ajnala, District Amritsar, Punjab, which falls within the belt notified by the Government of Punjab as a border area for the purposes of the Border Area Certificate.
