Why you need it

When you need it

The gas supplier needs owner consent before installing a connection — meter, regulator, piping, drilling — so state what work is allowed and who pays. This gives ownership-side consent while limiting structural work; not proof of a tenancy beyond its term.

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

No stamp duty for this NOC — a permission record, not a leasehold interest. Expanded into new rights, treat by true character.

Registration

Not compulsory — not a lease year-to-year, over a year, or yearly rent (s.17(1)(d)).

Notarisation

Not required — a dated signature or delivery proof matters more.

Witnesses

Not required, though witnessing suits an important consent.

LANDLORD NOC FOR A GAS CONNECTION

Date: 2 April 2026

I, Harpreet Singh, landlord of House 118, Sector 35-A, Chandigarh, occupied by Aarav Sharma since 1 April 2026, issue this limited NOC to Chandigarh City Gas Distribution Ltd..

I have no objection to the tenant applying for Piped natural gas residential connection. Application reference: PNG-CHD-2026-11882.

Permitted installation: Meter and regulator at the approved service point with internal pipeline to the kitchen. Approved route/location: External shaft to kitchen utility wall; meter beside service riser.. Structural limit: No cutting of beams, columns or structural slabs is permitted.

Cost allocation: Tenant bears all provider and restoration costs.

End-of-tenancy treatment: Connection may remain subject to provider transfer/disconnection rules. Special conditions: Certified technicians only; seal all penetrations.

This NOC is only for the stated gas service. It does not transfer ownership, extend the tenancy, waive rent, authorise unsafe structural work, or make the landlord liable for the tenant's gas consumption or provider account.
