REQUEST FOR CANCELLATION OF GST REGISTRATION
Date: 2 April 2026. To: The Proper Officer, State Tax Office, Ward 5, Chandigarh.
Subject: Request to cancel GST registration. GSTIN: 03ABCDE1234F1Z5.
I, Vikas Sharma, signing as proprietor of Sharma Traders, whose principal place of business is Shop 14, Sector 22, Chandigarh, ask that the GST registration of the business be cancelled with effect from 1 April 2026.
The reason for this request: the business has been closed.
GST returns have been filed up to September 2026. All returns due have been filed and all tax dues have been paid. No stock of goods or capital goods is held on the cancellation date.
I will give any further papers or explanation you ask for, and I understand that cancellation takes effect only when the officer so orders.
This is my own covering request written in my own words. The cancellation is applied for on the GST portal, and the portal application, the final return and any other form you require are separate from this letter. The statements above are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.
