THE WORK
The Volunteer offers to help the Organisation, without pay, in this way: Help run the free evening classes for children: take attendance and help with homework.. The work is done Mondays and Wednesdays, 5 to 7 pm, at the trust office, reporting to Naina Kaur. The Volunteer starts on 1 April 2026, and the arrangement runs until either side ends it by giving the written notice below.
NOT EMPLOYMENT
The Volunteer gives time freely. The Volunteer is not paid a salary, wage, stipend or fee, and is not an employee of the Organisation. Neither side intends this to be a contract of employment, and the Organisation does not promise any job, benefit or future paid work.
EXPENSES
Expenses: No expenses are paid back. The Volunteer should not spend money for the Organisation without approval from the person named above.
CONDUCT AND SAFETY
The Volunteer will follow the Organisation's reasonable instructions and rules given to the Volunteer, treat everyone with respect, and not take money or gifts from the people the Organisation serves. Children and safeguarding: The volunteer will work with children or vulnerable people and agrees to the safeguarding steps below. Where the Volunteer works with children or vulnerable people, the Volunteer follows the Organisation's safeguarding rules, is not left alone with a child where those rules say so, may be asked for identity and reference checks, and tells Naina Kaur at once about any concern. The Organisation has not promised any insurance cover for the Volunteer unless it says so in writing.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND PHOTOGRAPHS
The Volunteer keeps private the personal details of the people the Organisation serves, its donors and its members, and does not share them outside the Organisation, during the volunteering and afterwards. Photographs: The volunteer agrees that photographs taken at the organisation's events may be used for its work. Material the Volunteer creates for the Organisation in the course of the work belongs to the Organisation.
ENDING THE ARRANGEMENT
Either side may end this arrangement by giving the other 7 days' written notice. The Organisation may ask the Volunteer to stop at once if the Volunteer breaks the conduct or safeguarding rules. On ending, the Volunteer returns the Organisation's property and papers.
DISPUTES
The two sides will first try to settle any disagreement by talking to each other. If that fails, the courts that have jurisdiction at the Organisation's office will decide it.
LEGAL BASIS
Punjab and Chandigarh: This is an ordinary agreement under the Indian Contract Act, 1872 between persons able to contract. Calling someone a volunteer does not by itself decide that they are not an employee; that depends on the real arrangement, including whether pay or fixed duties and hours are involved, and on the labour laws that apply to it.
