When you need it

An employer in Punjab or Chandigarh is closing out a leaving employee and wants one sheet that each department signs: that the employee handed over work, returned the identity card, keys, laptop and other property, owes nothing to accounts, and that access to systems has been turned off. It is your own internal clearance sheet.

Complete it in the employee's last week, and keep it with the personnel file. The sheet lists what the employee is to return, so you can see at a glance what is still outstanding. Clearance of the sheet is a step towards the final settlement; it does not decide what is legally payable, and it should not be used to hold back wages or the Experience/Relieving Letter without a lawful reason. Not the Full and Final Settlement Letter, which sets out the money; use that next. Not a no-dues certificate issued by a bank or a housing society.
