Why you need it

When you need it

An agent's exclusive rights ran out and you won't renew? An agent hearing nothing often keeps marketing and argues it was extended. This confirms the right ended, ends marketing authority, asks for the introduced-buyer list, states protection's expiry, and requires boards/keys down or back.

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

No stamp duty — a notice creates or ends no right, so it's not chargeable.

Registration

Not registrable — a notice creates no property interest; outside section 17, Registration Act, 1908.

Notarisation

Not required — what matters is proof of delivery: send by email and registered post, and keep the acknowledgment.

Witnesses

None — the notice is signed by the person giving it; proof of delivery is what counts.
