When you need it

A business in Punjab or Chandigarh that sells goods or services through its own website, app or online page needs three published policies: the terms on which visitors may use the site, what it does with their personal information, and when it refunds or cancels. Payment gateways, marketplaces and app stores usually ask to see all three before they approve the business, and a customer who is let down will look for them first.

This document joins the three into one page you can publish at a web address of your own. It is the business's own public policy, not a contract two people sign. Fill in what you really do, because a policy that promises a refund or a data practice the business does not follow is worse than no policy. The privacy part is written for the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it as they apply to you from time to time; which duties apply to a business of your size, and from what date, should be confirmed with a lawyer. Consumer rules for online sellers can also require a named grievance officer and set response times, so confirm the current rule before relying on the grievance wording here. Not for an app or platform that collects children's data, health records, payments for others or user-generated content at scale, which need a longer, specialist policy. Not for a contract with one particular customer (use the relevant agreement).

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

No stamp duty is payable on a policy published on a website: it is not signed by two parties and transfers no right. If the same words are later put into a signed contract with a particular customer, that contract is stamped as an agreement.

Registration

Not registrable. Nothing is filed with any office; the policy is published on the site.

Notarisation

Not required. Keep a dated copy of each version you publish, because a customer may rely on the version in force when they ordered.

Witnesses

No witness is needed.

WEBSITE TERMS OF USE, PRIVACY POLICY AND REFUND POLICY

www.sandhuhandicrafts.in, run by Sandhu Handicrafts Private Limited of SCO 14, Sector 17-C, Chandigarh 160017 ("we", "us"). In force from 1 April 2026.

By using this site or placing an order you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

PART 1: TERMS OF USE

1.1 The site offers physical goods for sale. Descriptions, images and prices are given in good faith; we may correct an error in a price or description, and if we do after you order, we will tell you and you may cancel for a full refund.

1.2 An order is a request to buy. It becomes a sale only when we confirm it. We may refuse or cancel an order, for example for stock, payment or address problems, and will refund any money already paid.

1.3 You agree to give correct information, to use the site only for lawful purposes, and not to copy, scrape, interfere with or try to break into the site.

1.4 The text, images, logos and design of the site belong to us or are used with permission. You may not copy or reuse them without our written consent.

1.5 We take reasonable care to keep the site running but do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss from using the site. Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be excluded.

PART 2: PRIVACY POLICY

2.1 What we collect and why: Name, phone number, email and delivery address, to process and deliver orders; payment status from the payment gateway, to confirm payment.

2.2 Who we share it with: Our payment gateway, courier partners and accounting software provider, only as needed to complete the order. We do not sell your personal information.

2.3 Cookies: The site uses cookies to keep the shopping cart and to count visits.

2.4 We keep your information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as the law requires us to keep records (for example, tax and accounts records), and then delete or anonymise it. We take reasonable security steps to protect it, but no online system is completely secure.

2.5 You may ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it where we no longer need it, and you may withdraw a consent you gave. Write to Harleen Sandhu, Director at privacy@sandhuhandicrafts.in. We will reply within the time the law requires and, if the law does not state one, within a reasonable time.

PART 3: ORDERS, DELIVERY, CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS

3.1 Delivery: Across India, usually in 5 to 8 working days. Delivery times are estimates, not a guarantee.

3.2 Our rule: Unused goods may be returned within the number of days stated below, and the price is refunded once we receive and check them. The period for a return or refund request is 7 days from delivery.
