You are a student taking an education loan from a bank for a course in India or abroad, and you want to put your request in writing alongside the bank's own application form: the course and its cost, the loan you want, the margin money you will bring from your own or your family's funds and where it comes from, and who your co-applicant is. This is your own covering letter to the branch manager.

Not for the co-applicant's own undertaking (use the Education Loan Co-applicant Undertaking). Not for a home loan covering letter or a loan restructuring request. The margin the bank requires, the interest, the security, the moratorium and whether the loan is sanctioned are the bank's decisions under its own education loan scheme; this letter does not bind the bank to lend.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I, Ishaan Malhotra, S/o Sh. Sanjay Malhotra, request an education loan of ₹30,00,000 (Rupees Thirty Lakh only) from your bank, to meet the cost of M.Sc. in Data Science at University of Leeds, Leeds, United Kingdom, for the period: one year, September 2027 to September 2028. Admission status: Confirmed.

The estimated cost of the course is: Tuition Rs 24,00,000; living Rs 10,00,000; travel and books Rs 3,00,000, a total of ₹37,00,000 (Rupees Thirty Seven Lakh only).

Margin declaration

I declare that the part of the cost that the loan does not cover, being ₹7,00,000 (Rupees Seven Lakh only), will be paid by me and my family as our own contribution (margin), from this source: Family savings in the father's account and a fixed deposit that will be closed. The margin the bank requires for this loan is as the bank confirms under its scheme, and I will bring the margin in the manner and at the time the bank requires.

My co-applicant is Sanjay Malhotra, my father, who will sign the co-applicant papers that the bank requires.

I have taken the following other loans for this course: None.

I declare that the information in this letter is true, and I shall give any further paper the bank asks for. I understand that sanction of the loan is in the bank's discretion and that this letter does not oblige the bank to lend.
