When you need it

You are booking a marriage palace or banquet hall in Punjab or Chandigarh for one function, or you run the venue and want the booking in writing. This agreement fixes the date and hours, the spaces booked, the number of guests, the total charge and the advance, what the Host must pay and when, the food, music and decoration rules, and what is refunded if either side cancels.

Use it with the receipt the venue gives you for the advance; the receipt alone does not say what happens on cancellation. Not for taking a hall on lease for months or years — see the Banquet Hall or Marriage Palace Lease. Not for a private farmhouse or lawn — see the Farmhouse or Lawn Day-Hire Agreement. Not for the caterer, photographer or decorator, who have their own contracts in this group.

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Stamp duty

An agreement of this kind falls under the general entry for agreements not otherwise provided for in the stamp law, and the figure for Punjab and for Chandigarh is not confirmed here. Ask a stamp vendor or the Sub-Registrar office for the current figure before you sign. Many such bookings are made on plain paper; an unstamped paper can be questioned in court until the duty and any penalty are paid.

Registration

Not required. This agreement gives no right in land or buildings that outlasts the booking, so it does not need to be registered.

Notarisation

Not required. A notary adds nothing to the strength of this agreement.

Witnesses

Not required by law, but two witnesses who see both parties sign are good practice, and this form asks for them.

MARRIAGE PALACE OR BANQUET BOOKING AGREEMENT

This Agreement is made at Chandigarh on 2 April 2026.

BETWEEN

Orchid Hospitality Pvt Ltd, running Royal Orchid Banquet at SCO 12, Sector 35, Chandigarh, acting through Ravinder Singh, Manager (the "Venue");

AND

Harpreet Singh Gill, of House 118, Sector 21, Chandigarh, mobile 9876543210 (the "Host").

  1. 1. THE BOOKING

1.1 The Venue lets the Host use Main hall, front lawn, bridal room, ten guest rooms and parking at Royal Orchid Banquet on 2 April 2026 from 6:00 pm to 11:30 pm for a wedding (the "Function"). This is a booking to use the spaces for those hours only. It is not a lease and gives the Host no right over the premises outside them.

1.2 Earlier access: Decorators may enter the main hall from 10:00 am on the day of the function

1.3 The Host expects 400 guests. The spaces booked can hold up to 500 guests, and the Host will not invite more than that.

1.4 The Host will give the Venue the final guest count in writing at least 7 days before the Function.

  1. 2. CHARGES AND PAYMENT

2.1 The Host will pay the Venue a total charge of ₹3,50,000 (Rupees Three Lakh Fifty Thousand only) for the booking.

2.2 The Host paid ₹1,00,000 (Rupees One Lakh only) as advance on 1 April 2026, and the Venue confirms receiving it. The advance counts towards the total charge.

2.3 The balance is payable at least 7 days before the Function.

2.4 The total charge already includes every tax payable on it.

2.5 Extra charges: Generator at the venue's fuel cost; each extra hour as agreed in writing

2.6 The Host also pays a refundable security deposit of ₹25,000 (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand only) before the Function. The Venue returns it within 15 days after the Function, keeping back only the cost of damage or loss to the Venue's property caused by the Host, the guests or the Host's vendors, and showing the Host what was kept and why.

  1. 3. USE OF THE VENUE

3.1 The Host and the guests will use the Venue with care and follow its reasonable safety and house rules, which the Venue will give the Host in writing on request.

3.2 The food is provided by the Venue's own caterer, at the rates the parties have agreed in writing.

3.3 No alcohol will be served at the function.

3.4 Music and a DJ are allowed until the end time of the booking, kept within the sound limits that the law and the Venue's own permissions allow.

3.5 The Host may bring the Host's own decorator and other vendors, who must follow the Venue's safety rules and make good any damage they cause.

3.6 The Venue confirms that it holds the permissions it needs to run the premises for functions of this kind and will show them to the Host on request. The Host will obtain any permission the law requires for the Function itself.

3.7 The Host is responsible for the conduct of the guests and of the vendors the Host brings, and for damage they cause to the Venue's property beyond ordinary wear. The Venue is not responsible for vehicles, gifts, jewellery or other belongings left at the Venue, unless the loss is caused by the Venue's own staff.
