When you need it

A member or resident has done something the Society's rules forbid — blocked a common passage, run a noisy business from a flat, built in a common area, thrown rubbish where it should not go — and the committee wants it put right in writing first. The notice names the rule, says what is to be done and by when, and invites the member's explanation before the committee decides anything.

It imposes no fine. Not for unpaid maintenance — use the Arrears Demand Notice. Not for cutting off an amenity for default — use the Notice Restricting Amenities for Default.

What follows is written for Punjab and Chandigarh. It states the position there rather than describing how it varies, so the amounts below are the ones that apply — worth confirming at the sub-registrar’s office, because rates change. If the property is anywhere else in India, none of this is yours.

Notarisation

Notarisation is not required for this society paper.

Witnesses

Not required. The Secretary signs the notice for the Society; the member receives it.

NOTICE TO A MEMBER FOR BREAKING SOCIETY RULES

Green Park Residents Welfare Association, Sector 21, Panchkula

Date: 1 April 2026

To,
Mohan Lal
Flat No. 402, Green Park Residents Welfare Association

Subject: Breach of the Society's rules

Dear Sir/Madam,

It has been reported to the managing committee that on 2 April 2026 the following happened at or near your Flat No. 402: Two cars were parked in front of the main stairwell, blocking the fire exit, from 8 pm to 11 pm.

This appears to break the following rule of the Society's bye-laws: Bye-law on keeping common passages and fire exits clear (quote the clause number and words from your copy).

You were earlier spoken to or written to about this: Verbal reminder on 3 October 2026 and a written reminder on 12 October 2026. You are asked to do the following within 7 days of this notice: Remove the vehicles from the stairwell and keep it clear at all times.

If you think this report is wrong, or there is a reason for what happened, you may give the managing committee a written explanation within the same 7 days. The committee will read it before it decides anything.

If the matter is not put right and no explanation is received, the managing committee will consider the matter and may take only such action as the bye-laws permit. This notice does not impose any fine or penalty, and it does not take away any right you have under the bye-laws or the law.

Yours faithfully,

Secretary, Green Park Residents Welfare Association
